The Örebro Black Knights (2-0) will visit the Carlstad Crusaders (1-1) in an exciting Thursday night Midsummer Swedish Superserien matchup.
Both teams seem to be filled with talent and are seen by fans as true contenders for the 2021 title. This matchup has all the ingredients for a great game as these two evenly matched squads will meet up under the lights in Karlstad.
The Örebro Black Knights are coming off of a 33-20 upset victory over the Stockholm Mean Machines. The upset came in large part due to the excellent play of quarterback Trevor Vasey. The lanky 6’7 passer showed off his big arm and accuracy finding his receivers all over the field. On the ground Kasper Wedberg is a powerful running back that can move the chains behind an experienced offensive line.

Örebro’s defensive line will be tasked with taking down the athletic Carlstad quarterback Timothy Morovick. Look for Ali Chakkour and Sebastian Nilsson to be chasing down the speedy passer for all four quarters. Behind the defensive line, veterans Eric Murphey and Rikard Carlsson should be able to help contain a Carlstad offense that heavily relies on its mobile quarterback.
Carlstad rebounded from their season opening loss to the Stockholm Mean Machines to beat the Uppsala 86ers 55-0. Morovick will have to put on another big performance to match a red hot Black Knights offense. Morovick will look to get the ball to receivers Jacob Bergwall and Theodor Landström often, as this game could be a back and forth offensive shootout. Fans can expect speedy defensive back Darius Lewis to get some snaps at running back as he’s been dynamic with the ball in his hands this season.
Defensively, the Crusaders will rely on Stahinja Stepovic, Emil Jannson and Alex Gudding. Defensive backs Pierre Courageux and Darius Lewis bring experience and athleticism to this secondary, which has a tough test today against a potent Black Knights passing offense. If Courageux or Lewis can cause some turnovers it could be the difference in this one.
With last week’s victory the Black Knights thrust themselves into title contention, this week they’ll look to keep proving their doubters wrong against last year’s champions. Expect this Crusaders team to play well at home against the upstart Black Knights.
