France: Marseille Blue Stars overpower Grenoble Centaures in breakout win
The Marseille Blue Stars (2–2) delivered their most complete performance of the season, dominating the Grenoble Centaures (0–3–1) by a final score of 41–14 in a D1 Elite South Conference matchup at Delort Stadium.
Offense erupts early
From the opening drive, Marseille’s offense looked revitalized under their new coordinator. Wide receiver Lionnel Zahariou got the scoring started with an early touchdown, and dual-threat playmaker Hadrien Lynda extended the lead with his legs, keeping the Centaures defense off balance all half. Grenoble showed brief life when quarterback Nathan Valencia connected with Juwan Abraham for a score, but by halftime the Blue Stars had built a commanding 31–14 advantage.
Defense adds to the lead
The Marseille defense turned the game into a rout early in the second half. A pick-six just before halftime was followed by a forced fumble deep in Grenoble territory, leading to another quick touchdown that pushed the lead to 38–14. The Blue Stars controlled the tempo the rest of the way, leaning on their ground game to chew clock and secure the comfortable win.
Marseille finds its rhythm
This victory marks a significant step forward for Marseille, who had struggled to find consistency through the first three weeks. The performance—especially on offense—offers encouragement for the weeks ahead. For Grenoble, defensive issues continue to mount as they remain winless on the year. The Centaures showed brief offensive flashes but were ultimately overwhelmed by a Marseille squad that finally put all phases together.
