Czech Republic: QB Quinn Frisell joins Usti Nad Labem Blades

The Usti Nad Labem Blades in the Czech League of American Football have announced the signing of quarterback Quinn Frisell.

The 6’4″, 185-pound, 26-year-old from Plymouth (Minneapolis), Minnesota spent the 2021 season quarterbacking the Telfs Patriots (3-3) in the Austrian first division. Frisell threw for 1,700 yards and 14 touchdowns in the six-game season while rushing for another 400 yards and five touchdowns.

Prior to arriving in Austria, Frisell spent three seasons at Augsburg University (NCAA Div. III, MIAC conference) in Minneapolis, and in 19 games over the course of three seasons (suffered shoulder injury requiring surgery in senior season) he threw for 4,172 yards and 38 touchdowns including 2,800 yards and 28 touchdowns in his junior year alone. He was twice voted All Conference quarterback among many other accolades.

Frisell is definitely excited about signing with the Blades:

“I am really excited to be a part of this team because I feel like they have great management, a new American head coach who is ready to win, and a large core group of players who work hard towards a common team goal. I think one of things I look forward to the most with this experience is not only playing football but a chance to embrace and learn a new culture and make many great new friendships along the way.”
