RIP Petar Mikovic – 1988 – 2017

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Petar Mikovic, to the Novi Sad Dukes football team and the entire American football community in Serbia.

Mikovic died suddenly Monday, July 31.

He was one of the captains of the Dukes, 2015 Serbian champions. Peter took up the game of American football  in 2008 with Novi Sad and stayed with the club his entire career. He started playing defensive end and then moved over to the offensive line.

He was a member of the 2015 Serbian championship team, and this season he and the Dukes won the regional Central European Football League Cup tournament, in which the Dukes defeated the Alp Devils from Slovenia. He also won a silver medal with the Dukes this year after losing to the Kragujevac Wild Boars in Serbian Bowl XIII. 

He was also a member of the Serbian national team.

Mikovic will be remembered as a dedicated yet easy going teammate, popular among coaches and players alike.
