Swedish Superserien opens 2026 Season with 8 team lineup

The Swedish Superserien returns in April 2026 with a reshaped eight-team lineup, featuring the debut of the Göteborg Giants and the departure of international clubs, the Copenhagen Towers and Oslo Vikings.

Title contenders
The Carlstad Crusaders enter as back-to-back defending champions after a dominant 2025 campaign that culminated in a 36-6 victory over the Tyresö Royal Crowns in the national final. Their overwhelming semifinal shutout of the Kristianstad Predators (41-0) demonstrated they remain the team to beat. The Tyresö Royal Crowns, who fell to Carlstad in the championship, will look to build on their strong 2025 run that included a narrow 27-23 semifinal win over the Örebro Black Knights.

Chasing the crown
The Örebro Black Knights pose the most credible threat after finishing third in 2025 with a 6-2 record. The Stockholm Mean Machines and AIK will both be looking to bounce back from .500 (4-4) seasons, while the Kristianstad Predators aim to prove their fourth-place finish was no fluke despite their lopsided playoff exit. The Limhamn Griffins (3-5) and newcomer Göteborg Giants round out a competitive field of eight teams all aiming to dethrone the Crusaders‘ dynasty.
