Terrassa Reds grind out defensive win over Firebats, close in on Spanish playoffs

The Terrassa Reds (5-1) took a major step toward securing a postseason berth, outlasting the Valencia Firebats (3-3) 17–7 in a physical, wind-affected LNFA Eastern Conference battle.

Defense and resilience prove decisive
After falling behind early on a McCallum Foote to Roman Efimov touchdown pass, the Reds defense locked in and didn’t allow another point. A crucial safety before halftime and a recovered fumble in the fourth quarter allowed Terrassa to control field position and momentum despite challenging conditions.

Offense does enough despite injury
Quarterback Àlex Pacheco led the comeback with two second-quarter scoring strikes to Alpha Jalloh and Brandon Polk before leaving with a shoulder injury. Backup Pablo Gómez managed the game effectively down the stretch, and kicker Samuel Rodríguez iced the win with a late field goal.

Playoffs within reach
The victory puts the Reds on the brink of clinching a playoff spot—a win next week against Pioners would secure their semifinal berth. For the Firebats, the hard-fought loss deals a blow to their postseason hopes in the tightly contested Eastern Conference. Terrassa’s ability to win ugly, especially defensively, makes them a tough out as the regular season winds down.
