Central European Football League semifinals set for May 31 showdowns
The Central European Football League (CEFL) semifinals are locked in after dominant quarterfinal performances and a nail-biting finish, setting up high-stakes clashes between Europe’s gridiron heavyweights on May 31.
Road to the semifinals
Quarterfinal action saw the Carlstad Crusaders blank the Bristol Aztecs 35-0 at Sola Arena, while the Thonon Black Panthers overpowered the Badalona Dracs 41-17 at Stade Joseph Moynat. The Calanda Broncos routed the Kragujevac Wild Boars 49-0 in Chur, and the Warsaw Eagles edged the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns 22-16 at Optima Sportpark in Germany in the lone close contest.
Semifinal showdowns set
On May 31, the Calanda Broncos host the Warsaw Eagles at Obere Au in Chur, pitting the Broncos’ explosive offense against the Eagles’ resilient defense. Simultaneously, the Thonon Black Panthers face the Carlstad Crusaders at Stade Joseph Moynat in Thonon, a battle between two teams coming off decisive quarterfinal victories.
Both semifinal winners advance to the CEFL championship game, with the league crown and regional bragging rights on the line.
