LIVESTREAM Austria: Swarco Raiders @ Traun Steelsharks, April 30, 17:00 CET (5 pm, 11:00 am ET)

The Swarco Raiders (0-2) will pay a visit to the Traun Steelsharks (0-2) Saturday as the Austrian Football League resumes action after a two-week break.

As two of the four teams without a win in the 10 team AFL, both teams are desperate for a victory.

The Steelsharks have struggled this year in their first year in Austria’s top league, but they have kept their first two matchups competitive losing 16-10 to the Danube Dragons and 41-25 to the Graz Giants. Their signal caller is veteran John Uribe, a product of Lindenwood University, who is in his fourth season with Traun. He has had an adequate start to the season and thrown for 375 yards and five touchdowns in the two games. Although Traun has only scored 35 points so far, they have surrendered an average of just under 28 points per game.

Traun will face the second team of the Raiders, whose top team plays in the European League of Football. The Raiders have also dropped their two opening games. They were edged 44-42 by the Telfs Patriots and then in an offensive slugfest suffered a 70-63 defeat at the hands of the Vienna Vikings. In other words, their offense has been incredible to start the season, averaging 52.5 points through each of their first two games, but the defense has been putrid, giving up 105, which has been the main reason behind the team’s winless start. Quarterback Isaiah Weed has had an elite year so far, leading the league in passing touchdowns with 10 while throwing or 675 yards and no interceptions to this point.

This matchup is shaping up to be a close one.
