LIVESTREAM: Spain – Las Rozas Black Demons @Murcia Cobras, Saturday, Jan. 11, 5p (11a ET)

The Murcia Cobras open the 2020 season in the Spanish League of American Football, hosting the Las Rozas Black Demons on Saturday, January 11 at José Barnés stadium in Murcia.

These two teams met twice in 2019, splitting the series. The Black Demons took the first game with relative ease, beating Murcia 41-6 in the opening game of the season. The Cobras gained their revenge five weeks later, edging Las Rozas 39-34. Murcia were downed in the Spanish semifinals, losing to the eventual champions, the Badalona Dracs, 40-20. The Black Demons reached the championship final and were defeated for the Spanish crown by the Dracs, 47-6.

Under head coach Daniel Iniesta, Murcia the Cobras have been contenders every year since arriving in the top league in 2017, reaching the semifinals in 2017 and the final in 2018. Iniesta has re-signed his quarterback from last year, Adam Salvadori (American International College) who threw for 2,287 yards and 28 touchdowns. He has also brought in wide receiver Curtis Holden.

Black Demons head coach Sebas López has opted for continuity and for the second consecutive season will have the same Americans, quarterback Trenton Jones (41 TD passes last year) and receiver Evan Altizer, who was the leading points getter in Spain last year with 156 points.

This may well be the game of the week in Spain.
