Sweden: Stockholm Mean Machines roll over Kristianstad Predators 34-8
The Stockholm Mean Machines (3-1) put on a show this past weekend at Östermalms IP, defeating the Kristianstad Predators (0-4) 34-8. This win marked the Mean Machines’ third victory of the season, showcasing their strength in the Swedish Superserien.
Fast start sets the tone
From the opening kickoff, the Mean Machines made their intentions clear. Quarterback Dawson Herl marched Stockholm 80 yards on their first possession but a missed field goal attempt kept them off the scoreboard. However, they bounced back, with Emil Bentling scoring the first touchdown of the game on a 55-yard drive, putting Stockholm ahead 7-0. The defense stepped up next, as Rushd Massad intercepted a pass, stifling any early momentum from the Predators.
Offensive explosion
The Mean Machines continued to roll in the first half. Herl connected with Elliot Hammar and Matthew Retzlaff for touchdowns, extending the lead to 20-2 by halftime. The Predators managed to score a safety after a blocked extra point, but it was clear they were struggling to keep up with Stockholm’s offensive firepower.
Continued dominance
In the third quarter, Javier Cuervo Gonzalez added to the lead with a 46-yard touchdown run, making it 27-2 after an extra point. Hammar caught his second touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, further solidifying the Mean Machines‘ control of the game. Although Kristianstad’s Mike Mårtensson, who stepped in for the injured Philip Juhlin, managed to score a late touchdown, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. The game ended by a final score of 34-8.
Defensive strength
The Mean Machines‘ defense was a key factor in their victory, limiting the Predators to just 232 total yards and allowing only one third-down conversion out of nine attempts. Players like Adam Westin, Alexander Eshagi, Carl Henriksson, and Rushd Massad were instrumental in keeping Kristianstad at bay.
With this win, the Stockholm Mean Machines are looking to maintain their momentum as they push for a strong finish in the Superserien. Meanwhile, Kristianstad continues to look for that elusive first win.
