Yoshito Omi returns to Japan’s IBM Big Blue

After two years of playing outside of his home country, Japanese receiver Yoshito Omi will return to the XLeague. Omi has signed to be re-join the IBM Big Blue who we played for in 2018 and 2019.

Omi is eager to return to his old team and help them make a playoff run:

“I’m looking forward to be playing in Japan for the first time in 2 years. If we win the last three games, we could go to the playoffs. I will give them everything I have.”

The last time fans saw the 6’ 190-pound receiver playing Japan was in 2019 and that year he led the XLeague in receiving with 33 catches for 544 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games. Two weeks ago, Omi represented Japan at the NFL International Combine in London. The London showcase was hardly the first time Omi has represented his country on the field. The Ritsumeikan University product is a captain of the Japanese National team. While wearing red and white, Omi put on a show against top talent in the Spring League All-Stars in an exhibition game back in 2020.

The homegrown playmaker will make his return to the X-League this Saturday as the IBM Big Blue take on the Mitsubishi Lions. Omi and IBM hope to defeat the Lions and earn their first win of the season and make a post-season push.
