Örebro Black Knights welcome back RB Kasper Wedberg

The Örebro Black Knights have brought back one of their keys to reaching the 2017 Swedish Super Series final in 2017, Team Sweden running back Kasper Wedberg.

Wedberg had been signed by Europe’s top team and German Bowl champions, the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions  but with the German Football League season officially cancelled, Wedberg has returned to Sweden.

“Of course I’m sorry there was no football in Germany this year but at the same time I’m very happy to be back in the Black Knights family! I am really looking forward to playing in Sweden again and especially at Behrn Arena which I missed a lot. This year’s team has young players who can finally play in the Super Series with the elite team. I think many see us as underdogs but we have a lot of talent and I know everyone will do their best. We will play hard to win gmes, and hopefully it can take us back to the Swedish Championship final again!”

He spent the 2019 season with French champions, the Thonon Black Panthers helping them win the French title. During the regular season, he had 116 carries for 675 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging almost six yards a carry. He was a key to the Black Panthers running game, which led the French league. In 2018,  he played for the Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons in the French top division.

The 5’8″. 195 lb 24-year-old native of Falun, Sweden, Wedberg helped Örebro reach the 2017 Swedish final rushing for 621 yards and 11 touchdowns in his third year in Sweden’s Super Series. He was named Sweden’s top running back and played for the Swedish national team in games against Finland and Great Britain. He originally came to the Black Knights from the Dalecarlia Rebels in 2015.
