LIVESTREAM Finland: Porvoo Butchers @ Helsinki Roosters, July 8, 17:30 CET (5:30 pm, 11:30 am ET)

The Helsinki Roosters (2-0) will square off for the second week in a row against the Porvoo Butchers (2-1) as Finland’s Maple League rolls into it third full weekend of action.

This time Helsinki will play host to the Butchers as they look to complete the sweep over a talented Butchers squad after beating them 42-14 last week in Porvoo.

Last week, Porvoo and a Jabari Harris-led offense struggled to score against the well-coached Helsinki defense. Harris was finally able to break through finding Finnish receiver Mikko Seppanen for a third quarter touchdown. Expect Porvoo to involve 6’2″ receiver RJ long in the offense more as they aim for pull off the upset in Finland’s capital. Running back Sean Mcallen and receiver Mikko Seppanen will have to use their speed to move the chains against a physical Roosters defense.

The Butchers secondary struggled to contain the Roosters receivers. This week, fans can expect linebacker Alvin Reels to get the quarterback in order to slow down a Miro Kadmiry-led offense that seemed unstoppable one week ago.

The Roosters are eager to keep developing rookie speedster William Kajander who is playing his first season of American football this year but is no rookie to competitive sports. The 25-year-old is a former sprinter who represented Finland in the 2017 European Championships winning bronze in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Expect quarterback Miro Kadmiry to target the national team track star again this week as the two hooked up deep for a 55-yard touchdown in their last outing.  In the running game, Micky Kyei, Andres Lindley, and Karri Pajarinen present defenses with three legit ball carriers who can move the sticks.

Helsinki’s athletic secondary was able to come up with a fourth quarter interception helping squash the Butchers chances of a comeback one week ago. Look for defensive back Akseli Olin to make an impact again as the veteran defender brings verstatilty and sure tackling to a defense expecting to contain the Butchers offense for the second consecutive week.

Porvoo is determined to show improvement after their blowout loss at home. On the other hand, Helsinki is eager to defend their home turf and stay undefeated as the Maple League season slowly begins to heat up.
