ELF: Hamburg Sea Devils sign former NFL WR Lamar Jordan II

The Hamburg Sea Devils of the European League of Football has signed versatile receiver Lamar Jordan II. The move signifies the Sea Devils first American signed for the 2022 season. Jordan is thrilled o be joining the league’s inaugural runner ups:

“I reached out to a couple of teams in the European League of Football and the Sea Devils were the only team that actually called and contacted me all within the same day. So, I had a good feeling about the organization”

The 5’11”, 190-pound receiver comes to Europe following a long collegiate career as a quarterback. Jordan III played in 46 games with the New Mexico Lobos (NCAA D1). The Frisco, Texas native threw for 3,186 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions in Albuquerque. On the ground the former high school option quarterback stood out, rushing for 2,501 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Following his NCAA career, Jordan II transitioned from quarterback to receiver. His 4.46 forty-yard dash and versatility were enough for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons to sign him as an undrafted free agent. Jordan spent the 2018 pre-season with the Falcons before being released in September. Jordan on his time in Atlanta:

“The transition from quarterback to wide receiver was harder than I had thought. However, God blessed me [with] a great organization in the Atlanta Falcons. I learned from guys like Russel Gage Jr., Calvin Ridley, and Julio Jones on how to become an explosive wide receiver”.

Following his NFL stint, the former Lobo participated in the XFL showcase and CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos rookie minicamp, before signing to play indoor football with the Massachusetts Pirates in 2020. Earlier this year, the 27-year-old played for the Spokane Shock in the indoor football league, where he put up 287 total yards and a touchdown in only four games serving as the team’s kick returner and receiver.

This isn’t Jordan’s first experience with Germany as his father, a former United States Air Force member, was stationed in the country during his childhood. Expect the versatile athlete to contribute to the Sea Devils team in many ways next season. The addition of the former Atlanta Falcon marks the second major signing of the league’s runner-ups as they announced the signing of British running back Glen Toonga last week.
