The Braunschweig Lions have significantly bolstered their defensive front with the signing of American defensive lineman JaQuintis Summers, a prolific pass-rusher coming off a dominant season in Canada, for the upcoming 2026 German Football League season.
Dominant force in Canada
The 6’1″, 250-pound defender arrives from the Okanagan Sun of the Canadian Junior Football League, where he put together a spectacular 2025 campaign. Summers led the league with 13 regular season sacks while totaling 20.5 sacks including playoffs. His 25 tackles for loss and 43 total tackles earned him CJFL First-Team All-Canadian honors and the BCFC Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman award. Before his standout season in Canada, Summers developed his skills at Lane College (NCAA Division II), where he was a multi-year starter for the Dragons. Over 25 games at the collegiate level, the Prichard, Alabama native compiled 74 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks, establishing himself as one of the top defensive linemen in HBCU football. His dual-sport background in track and field (shot put and discus) contributes to his explosive power and athleticism.
