Madrid Bravos sign DPOY nominee Luke Glenna

After signing multiple ex-Barcelona Dragons, from Alejandro Fernandez to Sebastian Bowen, the European League of Football’s Madrid Bravos have added fuel to the fire of the budding Spanish rivalry, picking up US-American defensive back Luke Glenna from the Dragons.

The 5’11”, 190 pound safety spent four years playing Division 1 FCS football for the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota

The Edina, Minnesota native was an impact player from day one, recording some impressive statistics over his tenure with the ‘Tommies’.

On top of leading the team in tackles in both 2021 and ‘22, Glenna picked up 13 interceptions during his collegiate career at St. Thomas, alongside two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

His four interceptions, 36 solo tackles and 10 pass deflections also earned him a nod for FCS Defensive Player of the Year as well as a selection into the FCS All-American 2nd Team in 2022.

This year saw Glenna take his talents to Europe, signing with the Barcelona Dragons of the ELF at the start of the year.

In a season that was by no stretch of the imagination a positive one for the Dragons, Glenna was one of few things Barcelona fans could celebrate. His 137 tackles and 79 solo tackles ranked him top of the league in both categories, and by a significant margin. His two forced fumbles set him inside the top 10 in the ELF.

Additionally, Glenna proved himself not only to be a menace in run support but a ball hawk in the secondary, finishing in the top five in interceptions, racking up four picks.

His performance also earned him a nomination for Defensive Player of the Year.

Under ex-NFL coach Rip Scherer, Glenna will look to be the cornerstone of the Madrid Bravos’ secondary, while Alejandro Fernandez stands out in the front-seven of the newly-formed Spanish side.

A current student at Bournemouth University as well as a quarterback with eight years of playing experience. Brad's goal is to be a part of the growth of the game around the world through journalism and media.
