Multi-title holder Talib Wise named new head coach of Team Spain

The Spanish American Football Federation has gone outside the country to select the new head coach of the Spanish National Team in picking veteran player and coach Talib Wise.

The 35 year old Wise, current head coach of the Berlin Adler, takes over a program that has struggled in recent years. Team Spain has lost their last three games, two against Belgium, the last one in a heartbreaker, and a European qualifier against Israel.

Wise led the Koc Rams to their second straight Turkish title in 2017. He coached the Cairo Hellhounds in 2016 to the Egyptian semifinals. He has continued to play and spent the 2016 China Arena Football League season with the  Dalian Dragon Kings and helped the Moscow Patriots win the Russian Football League title in 2016 as well.

After graduating from the University of Nevada in 2005 he signed as a free agent for his hometown Chicago Bears. After his time in the Bears he played Arena Football until in 2009 he signed with the German Football League Dresden Monarchs. He moved to the Berlin Adler in 2010 and was the second leading rusher in the league. Since then he has earned five MVP awards and half a dozen titles, including three Eurobowls, two with the Adler and another with Austria’s Swarco Raiders.
