Finland: Tampere Saints land dual-threat QB Brandon Kyles for 2026 Maple League run

The Tampere Saints made a major offseason move just before Christmas, signing dual-threat American quarterback Brandon Kyles away from the Seinäjoki Crocodiles to lead their offense for the 2026 Maple League season.

Proven production in Finland
Kyles, a 6’2”, 210-pound quarterback from Rosenberg, Texas, brings immediate credibility to the Saints after an impressive 2025 campaign with the Crocodiles. He led his former team to the Maple Bowl finals while finishing fourth in the league’s passing statistics with 1,562 yards through the air. His dual-threat capability added another dimension, as he rushed for 321 yards and seven touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the league’s most dynamic offensive players.

College background and skill set
The 24-year-old signal-caller developed his skills at the collegiate level, beginning his career at NCAA Division III Buena Vista University in Iowa before transferring to Division II Central State University in Ohio. Between 2022 and 2024, he appeared in 15 games, throwing for 2,122 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding four more scores on the ground. This well-rounded background prepared him for the professional style of play in Finland.

Elevating saints offensive expectations
Tampere offensive coordinator Dajon Newell expressed clear excitement about the acquisition:

“We are excited to sign Brandon. He has shown elite-level performance and consistency in big games and took the Crocs to the Maple Bowl last year. Kyles is a true double threat, with the characteristics of keeping our attacks dynamic and versatile.”

Kyles is expected to form a dangerous connection with returning American wide receiver Logan Collier as the Saints aim to build one of the Maple League’s most explosive offenses. His arrival signals a new era for the Saints as they look to climb the Maple League standings. The Saints finished the 2025 season with a 2-8 record.
