ELF: Vienna Vikings sign top GFL WR, Weston Carr

The European League of Football’s Vienna Vikings have announced the signing of the top wide receiver in the German Football League, Weston Carr.

The 6’2″, 200-pound Benicia, California native’s stats speak for themselves as he led the German Football League with 1,318 receiving yards while playing for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes. Carr’s size, leaping ability, and sure hands made him one of the league’s top red-zone targets and he hauled in 15 touchdown passes. Carr’s 131 yards a game was good for the top of the GFL.

Following the season, he was named to the GFL’s All-Star and AFI’s All Europe Team. In a mid-season game against the eventual GFL champion Dresden Monarchs, Carr put up a monster game racking up 355 yards and six touchdowns on 18 catches.

Before arriving in northern Germany, Carr was an NCAA Division II star at Azusa Pacific University. As a member of the Cougars, Carr tallied 3,005 yards and 36 touchdowns on his way to three All-Conference seasons. His best year came his red-shirt sophomore season where he put up 1,458 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on 86 catch earning All-American honors. In his redshirt junior year at Azusa, he played a large role in the Cougars GNAC conference championship catching 12 touchdowns, while alongside All-Europe receiver Darrell Adams. In 2019, Carr transferred to Penn State making a substantial leap from Division II to Division I’s Big Ten conference.

The Vienna Vikings are one of four new teams joining the ELF. The other three are the Raiders Tirol, Rhein Fire, and Istanbul Rams.
