Germany: Kiel Baltic Hurricanes re-sign All Europe WR Weston Carr

The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes of the German Football League have re-signed All-Star pass-catcher Weston Carr.

The Hurricanes leading receiver in 2021 comments on why he chose to stay in Kiel:

“I was able to meet so many great people throughout the entire team. The coaching staff and team welcomed me so warmly that there was no question of me coming back. This year we will be even stronger as a team. I’m looking forward to another season in Kiel.”

The 6’2″, 200-pound Benicia, California native’s stats speak for themselves as he led the German Football League with 1,318 receiving yards. Carr’s size, leaping ability, and sure hands made him one of the league’s top red-zone targets and he hauled in 15 touchdown passes. Carr’s 131 yards a game was good for the top of the League.

Following the season, he was named to the GFL’s All-Star and AFI’s All Europe Team. In a mid-season game against the eventual GFL champion Dresden Monarchs, Carr put up a monster game racking up 355 yards and six touchdowns on 18 catches.

Kiel head coach Timo Zorn commented on what Carr meant to his team:

“Weston is a true difference maker, he is capable of taking over a game at any given moment. He leads by example on and off the field and lets his game do the talking. Despite his on field success and crazy production he is the most humble guy in the building and a true team first player.”

Before arriving in northern Germany, Carr was an NCAA Division II star at Azusa Pacific University. As a member of the Cougars, Carr tallied 3,005 yards and 36 touchdowns on his way to three All-Conference seasons. His best year came his red-shirt sophomore season where he put up 1,458 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on 86 catch earning All-American honors. In his redshirt junior year at Azusa, he played a large role in the Cougars GNAC conference championship catching 12 touchdowns, while alongside All-Europe receiver Darrell Adams. In 2019, Carr transferred to Penn State making a substantial leap from Division II to Division I’s Big Ten conference.

Following the departure of quarterback Joe Germinerio and linebacker Darin Hungerford, the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes are thrilled to have their star receiver back. Expect head coach Timo Zorn to find talented imports once again, as this team looks to compete for a post-season spot in the competitive GFL North next season.
